TRACK & FIELD: Men seventh, women eighth at Heps

The Yale track and field teams traveled to Cornell this weekend to compete in the highly anticipated Ivy League Heptagonal Championships for the indoor season. Saturday consisted of mostly preliminary qualifying rounds with a few scored events, while Sunday saw most of the final heats. The men came away with a seventh-place finish, while the women took eighth.

SOFTBALL: Elis finish weekend with first win

As the weather in sunny Orlando, Florida heated up from 64 degrees this past Friday to 73 on Sunday, so too did the Yale softball team, which capped off a season-opening five-game stretch in the Sunshine State with the team’s first win of the 2016 campaign.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE: Daniggelis ’16 breaks Ivy record in loss

The Yale women’s lacrosse team fell 13–3 in Amherst against an impressive Massachusetts squad this past Saturday, but during the losing effort attacker Nicole Daniggelis ’16 set the Ivy League record for draw controls.

MEN’S LACROSSE: No. 7 Elis upend No. 4 Maryland

In front of over 3,000 spectators at Reese Stadium, the No. 7 Yale men’s lacrosse team knocked off No. 4 Maryland 8–5 in its home opener on Saturday afternoon, less than a year removed from the Terrapins’ 8–7 NCAA Tournament victory over the Elis.

MEN’S LACROSSE: Rematch of top opponents

After beginning the season with a 17–7 win over UMass Lowell, the No. 7 Yale men’s lacrosse team moves on this weekend to face one of its biggest challenges of the year. Last May, the Yale men’s lacrosse team captured its third Ivy League Tournament title in four years in a thrilling 11–10 victory over Princeton. Less than a week later, Yale fell in devastating fashion to the sixth-seeded Maryland in the first round of the NCAA tournament despite holding a three-goal lead with seven minutes to play.
