BASEBALL: Bulldogs drop in-state matchup

After opening the season with three tough contests against the nation’s No. 3 team and taking the field on Tuesday against an in-state foe that won 35 games last season, the Yale baseball team must continue to wait for its first win — or even its first close final score.

TRACK & FIELD: Randon ’17, Rizzo ’17 excel in mile

To conclude the indoor track season, the Yale men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Boston University this weekend for the IC4A/ECAC Championships, for which 23 Bulldogs qualified. In the regional tournament, which brought together competitors from more than 50 schools from the East Coast, the Yale men tallied 22 points and placed 15th while the women placed 11th with 23 points, tying with Harvard’s women’s team for the best Ivy performance at the meet.

WOMEN’S TENNIS: Win streak extended to five

The Yale women’s tennis team extended its win streak to five matches this weekend with strong performances by the junior class. Tina Jiang ’17 was the only Bulldog to win both a single and doubles match, while Sherry Li ’17 and Caroline Lynch ’17 extended a streak of their own by winning their sixth doubles match in a row.

BASEBALL: Presidential meeting highlights opening weekend

Two years ago, the Yale baseball team found some magic in a Southeastern Conference ballpark, stunning the top-ranked Louisiana State Tigers 8–7 in the finale of the Bulldogs’ season-opening series. But this past weekend, with a similar opportunity in front of them — and with a distinguished alumnus looking on — the Elis could not find a way to beat No. 3 Texas A&M and its high-powered offense.

MEN’S LACROSSE: Yale continues unblemished start

The No. 6 Yale men’s lacrosse team traveled to Bryant on Saturday, looking to extend its perfect start to the season. And the Elis did so in convincing fashion, winning 14–4 to begin a three-game stretch lasting eight days.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE: Second-half comeback not enough in Ivy opener

In the opening contest of the 2016 Ivy League season, the Yale women’s lacrosse team headed to Ithaca, New York, where it was bested by unbeaten Cornell 10–6.

Yale’s coed and women’s sailing teams return to the water this weekend for the spring season, determined to defend the three national championships that the two squads combined for last year.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE: Quick start propels Yale to win

Coming off of a 10-goal loss to the undefeated University of Massachusetts, the Yale women’s lacrosse team bounced back nicely against Marist with an 11–8 win on a frigid Wednesday night. The Bulldogs jumped out to an impressive start and held on to move back to 0.500 and remain unbeaten at home.

BASEBALL: Elis set to embark on 2016 campaign

When the Yale baseball team opens its season on Friday against No. 4 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, former U.S. President and Yale baseball captain George H.W. Bush ’48 will be in attendance and may even throw out the first pitch.
