On April 22, 2023, the Yale Daily News elected its 146th Managing Board, which will lead the Oldest College Daily through the 2022-23 academic year.
Over the next 12 months, we will elevate our reporting with cross-desk collaborations and new initiatives. We will incorporate more multimedia into our coverage to better leverage the News’ diverse talents and provide more compelling content to audiences across Yale and New Haven. To facilitate our multimedia growth, our infrastructure must grow in tandem: we plan to establish a new podcast studio and restructure our physical newsroom.
It is critical that we continue making the News accessible to anyone in the Yale community — our home at 202 York Street should be a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of their prior experience. We commit to expanding our coverage beyond Yale and into New Haven, and this coming academic year, we will officially launch the Yale Daily News New Haven Public Schools internship program. This program will connect high school students with our staff, our newsroom and the wealth of professional journalism opportunities available through the News.
We will improve our internal culture by emphasizing camaraderie and mentorship, and we will enhance our recruitment by building and publicizing the Yale Daily News stipend program.
