Anton Sovetov ART ’16, a graphic designer for the Yale Office of Public Affairs and Communications, has been missing since Feb. 4, according to a Thursday afternoon email from Yale Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police Ronnell Higgins.

On Thursday afternoon, Higgins sent an email to the Yale community seeking help in identifying Sovetov’s whereabouts. Sovetov, 44, is a graphic designer employed by the Yale Office of Public Affairs and Communications. He first joined the University staff in 2017. Sovetov was last seen in the downtown New Haven area on Feb 4.

“We are currently using every resource possible to locate him but we believe that hear[ing] from the public can be instrumental to locating Anton,” Yale Assistant Police Chief Anthony Campbell wrote in an email to the News.

Sovetov was born on June 15, 1977. He is described as being 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds and has brown hair, blue eyes, a mustache and a beard.

According to the email, members of the Yale Police Department, New Haven Police Department and other law enforcement agencies began working to generate and pursue leads last week.

“We now wait in hope that with the help of the Yale community and the public, the Yale and New Haven Police locate him. We are tremendously grateful for the hard work they’ve put in from the outset,” Nate Nickerson, Yale’s Vice President for Communications, wrote in an email to the News.

“[The Office of Public Affairs and Communications] is a tight-knit group, and this has of course been hard on all of us,” Nickerson added. “Anton is a wonderful colleague and a rare talent—we simply want to see him back.”

Anyone with information on Sovetov’s whereabouts may contact the Yale Police Department at 203-432-4400 or the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6316. Anonymous text tips can also be sent through the LiveSafe app.

Correction, Feb. 18: The article has been updated with Sovetov’s correct date of birth.
