A step backward. South Dakota’s state senate became the first in the country to pass a bill that requires transgender students to use bathrooms according to their sex at birth. The bill awaits Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s signature. Things are different at Yale where, earlier this semester, administrators held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the University’s first all-gender bathroom.
