After finishing third as a team at the College Squash Association National Championships last weekend, the Bulldogs will fend for themselves in the individual tournament at Annapolis, Maryland this weekend.

The last time the Elis were at the CSAs, Francis Johnson ’09 swept Trinity’s Rushabh Vora in the finals to bring home the consolation championship. This year, the Bulldogs will send John Fulham ’11, Max Samuel ’08 and Aaron Fuchs ’10 to the Potter Draw, the top division at the tournament. In the second division, Johnson will be joined by teammates Colin Campbell ’09, Ethan Oetter ’09, Todd Ruth ’10, Moshe Sarfaty ’08 and Naishadh Lalwani ’11.

Lalwani will look to continue his torrid streak against the rest of college squash. The Indian import has won his past four matches with a perfect 12-0 record after a slow start out of the gate. Fittingly, Lalwani’s last victory came over Harvard’s Alastair Smith, who defeated Bill Hatch ’09 in the quarterfinals of the CSA tournament last season. The Annapolis tournament promises to be an odd homecoming for Smith: the sophomore transferred to Harvard after spending his first year at Navy.
