The most recent time the two teams met on the squash court last season, the Bulldogs avenged a season-opening loss to Penn in commanding fashion, defeating the Quakers 7-2 in the quarterfinals of the CSA Team Championships.

This year, the Bulldogs will look for a season-opening victory to build upon their third-place finish at the Ivy League Scrimmage on Nov. 11. Captain Moshe Sarfaty ’08 heads a talented squad boasting impressive depth, as evidenced by the Elis’ 9-0 preseason sweep of the Quakers even while missing three of their top nine.

Although the Bulldogs may have lost their best player in departed captain Nick Chirls ’07, they return eight of their top nine players from last year’s fourth-place Ivy League squad. For the first time since 1997, the Bulldogs last year finished outside of the Ivy League’s top three, as a young Yale team dropped close matches to Princeton and Penn. Harvard beat Yale twice, winning both matches by a combined score of 16-2.

After playing Penn at noon, the Bulldogs will face off against Franklin and Marshall later on Saturday before hosting Williams next Thursday.
