Labyrinth Books’ co-owners have confirmed in a press release that the store will be closing its doors on May 31, citing the difficulty of managing the New Haven location while also living in Princeton, New Jersey with their two daughters since 2007. The co-owners came to Princeton when Princeton University invited them to open and manage a Labyrinth Books location in the city.

“Despite the many changes in the book industry in the last decade, our basic belief in the model of academic and community bookselling, which we have been developing since the early 1990s, remains unchanged,” Dorothea von Moltke and Clifford Simms said in the release.

Moltke and Simms are finalizing plans for a different independent book retailer to move into the New Haven space that will be left by the current store, according to the release.
