While most recent graduates are enjoying summer vacation, the School of Art photography graduates are taking on the Manhattan art scene.

The 2010 photography MFA thesis exhibition, “Stranger than Fiction,” opened Tuesday at 25CPW — an artist-run gallery space in New York City. The show, which was on display at Yale last month, features work produced by this year’s eight photography graduates.

Since each student curates his or her own work, the exhibit is an eclectic mixture of styles and themes. The photograhps on display range from the hyperrealistic and plasticized modern cocktail party scenes by Monika Sziladi ART ’10 to the raw and naturalistic images of religious or environmentalist people who have left cities to survive on their own, by Lucas Foglia ART ’10. And, as the title of the show suggests, there is something “strange” about most of the works in the show.

The exhibition will be on display at 25CPW — named for its location on 25 Central Park West — until June 13.
