Stanford University received a record-setting 30,349 applications to the undergraduate class of 2013, marking a 20 percent rise compared to last year, the university announced late last week. Stanford’s application total outpaces those at all Ivy League universities that have announced application totals so far, including Yale and Harvard universities, which received record-breaking totals of 25,925 and about 29,000 applications, respectively. Stanford gave early admissions offers to 689 of its 5,363 early applicants this year. Stanford announced it expects an overall acceptance rate of about 7.5 percent for the class of 2013, comparable to Yale’s anticipated overall acceptance rate of about 7.3 to 7.7 percent.
