  1. Hart sacked on fourth down

With Penn pressure coming on a blitz, Hart was mauled by two Quakers before having a chance to get a throw off, thus ending the drive with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter. With just one timeout remaining, the Bulldogs ‘ chances don’t look to good. They need to stop the Quakers from converting a first down or force a turnover.

  2. Incomplete pass and questionable no-call

On 3rd and 19, Hart looked for Jordan Forney down right sideline but was unable to connect on a play with some contact between Forney and the cornerback. The Quaker seemed to push Forney right before the ball got to him but the referees didn’t think it warranted a pass interference call.

  3. Bulldogs coming right back

It looks like the Yale offense just needed some extra pressure to get it going. Brook Hart has looked impressive thus far in the drive, completing three passes for two first downs. The Elis are now in Quaker territory with just over two minutes remaining.

With five minutes to go, Penn’s offense moved inside the Yale 15-yard line as they executed a variety of run plays to advance the ball into Bulldog territory. Yet again, however, the Elis bent but didn’t break. The Quakers were forced to kick another field goal as the drive stalled. With it, Penn has taken its first lead of the contest, 97 with 4:35 remaining.

  5. The Eli defense does it again

After stuffing a run on 2nd and 1, the Quakers tried a play-action pass but found a stiff Yale defense prepared for it. Olson was able to complete the pass but it was good for a 9-yard loss. As a result, Penn is forced to kick a field goal and makes cuts into the Yale lead instead of taking a lead themselves. The scoreboard reads 7-6, Yale, with 12:26 remaining in the contest.

  6. Another Eli Miscue

On 4th and 1, coach Siedlecki tried some trickeration with a fake punt and it didn’t turn out to well. In an attempt to snap it directly to Paul Rice, Rice wasn’t able to handle it and Penn recovered the fumble. The Quakers now start their drive with prime field position, inside the Yale 30.

  7. Big Stops

The Yale defense was able to step up — a recurring theme this season — and force the Quakers to kick a field goal. The try was good and the Yale lead is now 7-3 with 3:35 to go in the 3rd quarter.

  8. Big Bulldog Turnover

Brook Hart just fumbled after being hit from behind as he threw a pass, he didn’t see it coming. The ball was recovered by the Quakers inside the Eli 10.

  9. Quaker QB Platoon

Like the Bulldogs did in its first two games this season, the Quakers have rotated between quarterbacks throughout the contest. This basically means that the Quaker coaching staff is still trying to do anything to get this inefficient offense going.

The time has been split between the usual starter Robert Irvin and Kyle Olson (who also is the team’s punter). But so far not much has been done by either player.

Hello all, due to technical difficulties in the first half, I couldn’t blog in the first half but will be in the second. Don’t worry, you didn’t miss much in the first 30 minutes. The halftime score reads 7-0, Yale. The touchdown, a seven yard run by John Sheffield, was set up by a Paul Rice interception and return.
