FOOTBALL: Yale ends road streak at Penn

The Yale football team concludes its four-game road trip tonight in Philadelphia, taking on Penn in the program’s first Friday night Ivy League game.

FOOTBALL: Yale returns to form, beats Maine

On Saturday the Yale football team returned to the ground game and earned its fourth win of the season, overpowering non-conference opponent Maine 21–10. An excellent showing by the defense bookended a two-touchdown, 139-yard performance by running back Deshawn Salter ’18 as the Bulldogs held the Black Bears to just 10 points and 308 total yards, both season-bests for the Elis.

FOOTBALL: Recipe for success

In late October of last year, The New York Times published a profile of running back Tyler Varga ’15, who was then five games and 709 yards into a record-breaking senior season. Thanks in part to the article — which detailed Varga’s extreme workout habits and unconventional diet — the Tupperware of rice that Varga brought to classes became part of the lore surrounding the current NFL tailback.

FIELD HOCKEY: Yale and Dartmouth each seek first Ivy win

A full 282 minutes of game time have passed since the Yale field hockey team last found the back of the net. The Bulldogs, outscored by opponents 26–2 since their last win over Bryant on Sept. 18, remain mired in a seven-game losing streak despite strong defensive performances in a pair of losses this past weekend.
