After two days off following a Saturday game in Amherst, Mass., the Yale men’s soccer team (0–5–2) took the field at Reese Stadium Tuesday evening for another out-of-conference game, against the University of New Hampshire (2–4–3).
Last year, the Wildcats narrowly prevailed over Yale in a back-and-forth 1-0 game. This time, the Elis were defeated, two goals to nil.
UNH got on the scoreboard first in the 22nd minute, when midfielder Reed Cash capitalized on a deflection inside the box to give New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.
But the Bulldogs quickly regrouped, showing their resilience and creating several dangerous chances in response. In the 26th minute, forward Simon Adjakple ’27 nearly scored an equalizer, but his shot was denied by UNH goalkeeper Claudio Fuentealba, keeping Yale off the board.
The Bulldogs refused to be rattled, continuing to press forward and testing the Wildcats’ defense. Yale’s attacking intensity remained high, but a breakthrough was elusive as Fuentealba remained rock solid. The Wildcats then doubled their lead in the 67th minute off of a free kick just outside the box. They maintained that 2-0 lead until the final whistle.
Yale’s offense, though dangerous, simply couldn’t find the back of the net. Adjakple, Teague McCammon ’28 and Sebi Roy ’29 each registered shots on goal, but all of them were brushed aside. The Bulldogs’ keeper, Conrad Lee ’26, was equally busy in goal, finishing with four saves himself.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to Ivy League play, with a road matchup against Cornell scheduled for Saturday.
The Elis have prevailed in their past two encounters against Conrell, with wins in both 2023 and 2024. They also hold a favorable 10–4–2 overall record against the Big Red.
Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at Berman Field in Ithaca, N.Y.
