All summer, I yearn for my transition staples; there are only a few months a year when it’s just chilly enough to start layering, but not cold enough to sacrifice looking cute for warmth. This year I can’t wait to start pulling out my fav pieces, and if you are feeling lost or want a little inspiration, here is what I think is going to look fabulous this fall.

P.S. click the links to see what I mean..

Women

What’s in this year..

  • High boots: black, brown, suede, leather, heel, no heel anything goes.
  • Cowboy boots: but not in a cowboy way. Wear them with jeans and a sweater, make it unexpected.
  • Chunky oversized sweaters: always been in and always will be – comfort is key in the fall.
  • Trench coats: my favorites are black, brown, plaid, and dark red. You can get away with tan but I think other colors do it better.
  • Leather bomber: always a great look over anything and goes with miniskirts, jeans, pants, you name it.
  • Mini skirts and biggg coats or sweaters: I love the juxtaposition of a tiny skirt and a huge top.
  • Scarfs: they must look like they are drowning you – hair tucked in of course.
  • Tights: for warmth or fashion, we love it.
  • Vintage bags: forever a great look, bonus points if it’s dark brown or burgundy.
  • A slightly baggy jean: relaxed but not falling off of you. Pair them with a belt or a cute pair of boots.

Men

I love a man that can dress. Yale women are always looking gorgeous and some of you men need to step it up… here is what you are going to wear this fall.

What’s in this year..

  • Jeans: a man that can pull off jeans says a lot about him.
  • Forest green: sweatshirts, shirts, and jackets – something about this color works.
  • Sneakers that aren’t athletic: bare minimum but I felt like it needed to be said.
  • A white t-shirt under a crew neck: a subtle layering – way to get some fashion under your belt without taking a risk.
  • A barn jacket or a bomber jacket: I see lots of athletic jackets or none at all, I think we can mix this in sometimes.

And with that, those are my takes on this year’s fall fashion. I can’t wait to see everyone looking cozy and chic this season.
