Students bummed about not getting tickets to see “Hamlet” with Paul Giamatti ’89 DRA ’94 (the show starts tonight, but all 15,000 tickets are currently sold out) can now look ahead to more celebrity-infused Shakespeare coming next March.

The Yale Repertory Theatre has just announced its 2013-’14 season, which will include two world premieres, including “These Paper Bullets,” a rock adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” featuring new songs by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. This isn’t Armstrong’s first venture into the theater scene; the singer also worked closely on the 2009 stage adaptation of the band’s album “American Idiot.”

“These Paper Bullets” will be adapted by Rolin Jones DRA ’04, who has worked as a writer for the popular television shows “Weeds,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Boardwalk Empire,” and has received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Jones was also nominated for the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play “The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow.”

Here’s the full list of what’s coming next year (in order):

“A Streetcar Named Desire,” by Tennessee Williams
“Owners,” by Caryl Churchill
“Accidental Death of an Anarchist,” by Dario Fo
“The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls,” by Meg Miroshnik DRA ’11
World Premiere: “These Paper Bullets,” adapted by Rolin Jones DRA ’04 (from William Shakespeare), songs by Billie Joe Armstrong
World Premiere: “The House that Will Not Stand,” by Marcus Gardley DRA ’04

But if you really just want to see “Hamlet,” there’s hope: People will always bail, even on Academy Award nominees.
Just call the box office on the day you’re hoping to go and assess the situation. Then, go to the box office at the University Theatre an hour before the performance starts to sign up for the waitlist. And if you want to sacrifice a goat or two, it probably wouldn’t hurt.

Just no scalping fake tickets, guys. I mean, this isn’t the Halloween Show.
