Yale administrators will announce the University’s next provost at 4:15 p.m. today in Luce Hall, according to Yale College Dean Mary Miller and Graduate School Dean Thomas Pollard. The announcement of Provost Peter Salovey’s replacement falls about two months after the Yale Corporation announced on Nov. 8 that Salovey will succeed University President Richard Levin in the 2013-’14 academic year. Salovey, who will assume the presidency on June 30, led the search for a new provost and told the News in November that he wanted to appoint his successor as soon as possible, though he did not yet have concrete plans for the decision’s timeline.
The past ten provost searches have all taken between two and nine weeks.
