The School of Management announced two senior leadership appointments in its administration last week.
Anjani Jain will take office as senior associate dean for SOM’s full-time MBA program on July 1, and David Bach ’98 will become senior associate dean for executive MBA and global programs in September. Jain has held multiple leadership positions at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Bach has is the current dean of programs at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
The business school news site Poets and Quants described the appointments as “something a coup” for SOM Dean Edward Snyder.
“Rarely if ever does a business school recruit and hire leadership talent of this caliber, particularly at the sub-dean level,” Poets and Quants wrote Friday. “Both Jain and Bach have played high-profile roles at their schools for years and either of them could just as easily landed a full deanship at another business school.”
At Yale, Jain will oversee SOM’s full-time MBA program, managing admissions, career development, and student and academic services. Bach will head the school’s executive MBA program and the Master of Advanced Management degree program, while also overseeing the SOM’s involvement in its Global Network for Advanced Management, a nexus of partnerships with international business schools launched in April 2012. IE Business School, Bach’s current institution, is a member of the network.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Snyder said the leadership appointments come at a promising time for SOM.
“Both Anjani and David are highly motivated by Yale SOM’s mission to educate leaders for business and society, and I am confident they will make important contributions as the school continues to grow in scope and influence,” Snyder said. “We have an extraordinary opportunity to achieve greater integration with Yale, strengthen relationships with enterprises in all sectors, and solidify an innovative and distinctive role globally.”
Jeanette Gorgas, who oversaw the full-time MBA program this year, will assume the position of senior associate dean for enterprise development once Jain comes to SOM.
