Two park rangers found a dead man’s body in the Mill River by the Orange Street bridge Saturday morning.

A full autopsy is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Sunday. New Haven Police Department spokesman David Hartman said “cursory observations” by the state medical examiner suggested that there was no foul play involved.

Rangers Daniel Barvir and Joe Milone discovered the body near East Rock Park around 11:30 a.m. and immediately called the police and fire departments to the scene, before a dive team fished the body out of the water, Hartman said. The initial inspection suggested the body had been in the water for more than a week, he said.

There have been no recorded homicides in New Haven so far this year.
