  • After a U-Haul truck hit three people, killing one, at the Harvard-Yale tailgate Nov. 19, the University will carry out a comprehensive review of tailgating policies in an effort to prevent similar accidents in the future. The review, which was announced in an email by Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer the afternoon of the accident, will focus on logistical issues at the Yale Bowl, including the use of box trucks and U-Hauls, Associate Vice President for Administration Janet Lindner said in a Sunday email. Linder will lead the review in close collaboration with the Yale College Dean’s Office and Yale Athletics, she said.
  • A year after resolving its lawsuit over the Peruvian artifacts, Yale still faces another lawsuit over photographs taken at Machu Picchu.

    Michael Lawton was hired by Yale’s Peabody Museum in Oct. 2000 to take photographs for an exhibit on Machu Picchu. According to the contract between the two parties, Lawton would receive a part of any profits from any for-profit book published with his pictures, but he would not be compensated for any non-profit exhibit, catalogue, article or website using the photographs.
