The Yale football team’s chance to win The Game just took a serious hit.

After sitting out against Princeton last week, starting wide receiver Chris Smith ’13 will miss Saturday’s match due to an ankle injury sustained two weeks ago in a loss to Brown. The junior has struggled to stay healthy this year and missed two games earlier in the season with a hamstring injury.

Smith leads the team with 100.3 receiving yards, 21.5 yards per reception and six receiving touchdowns. After returning five kicks for 93 yards against Brown, Smith became Yale’s all-time leader in kickoff return yardage. Without his go-to target, quarterback Patrick Witt ’12 will likely to look to Cameron Sandquist ’14 and Jackson Liguori ’14 to step up. The duo combined for 14 catches for 213 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 33–24 victory over Princeton.

On defense, Wes Moyer ’12 will not suit up for his final game against the Crimson after injuring his knee last week. The linebacker, who ranks fifth on the team with 26 total tackles, was helped off the field late in the fourth quarter after trying to stop Tigers running back Chuck Dibilio. Brian Leffler ’13 will make his second start of the season in Moyer’s absence.

Kickoff will be at noon.
