These days, education ain’t cheap.
In a list of the 100 most expensive colleges released by Campus Grotto last Thursday, Yale came in at number 81 — but 111 colleges nationwide now charge more than $50,000 a year for tuition, room, board and fees. When Campus Grotto began ranking college costs in 2007, only one school — George Washington University — had a sticker price of over $50,000.
Sarah Lawrence College once again took the number one spot with a total cost of $59,170, followed by New York University ($56,787), Columbia University ($56,310), Harvey Mudd College ($56,268) and Eugene Lang College ($55,890).
A total cost of $52,700 earned Yale a ranking of 81, edging out that rival school in Cambridge, which costs $52,652 each year. The list did not take into account a school’s ability to provide financial aid.
