Timeica Bethel ‘11 was featured on MSNBC on Thursday.

Bethel recently gained national attention when The Chicago Tribune featured her story on March 27th.

Abandoned by her crack-addicted mother, Bethel was raised by her grandmother in the LeClaire Courts housing project. With her grandmother’s guidance, Bethel worked her way to an elite high school and then onto Yale.

“You are a true American success story,” host Richard Lui said when introducing Bethel.

Later in the interview, Bethel was asked what she believed to be the most important lesson from her story.

“I just hope it shows people that anything is possible. Anything you put your mind to you can do, and education is essential,” she told the host.
