Megan Vasquez ’13, the sophomore guard for the women’s basketball team, is this week’s YDN Player of the Week for her pivotal role in leading the Lady Bulldogs to their first win at Harvard since 2001 and their first season sweep of the Crimson since the 1993-94 season.
Vasquez scored nine points with four assists and three rebounds in a dominant 70-45 win at Dartmouth on Friday. She then followed that performance with a clutch, 23-point effort to lead Yale to victory at archrival Harvard on Saturday. Vasquez scored 15 of her 23 points at Harvard in the second half, including making her own 6-0 run with eight minutes left to give Yale a 53-43 lead and all but assuring the victory.
Vasquez currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 14.1 ppg. Because of her efforts, Yale is now second in the Ivy League with an outside chance at an Ivy Championship, but a great chance at landing an automatic berth in the WNIT postseason tournament, awarded to the second-place finisher in the Ivy League.
The Bulldogs host Columbia on Friday and Cornell on Saturday during Senior Weekend.
Both contests will begin at 7 pm.
