Brown University exceeded its seven-year fundraising goal by $210 million, University President Ruth Simmons announced Thursday, according to a Brown press release.

Brown launched its $1.4 billion fundraising campaign, known as “Boldly Brown,” in October 2005 to bring in funds for supporting for faculty, expanding undergraduate financial aid and renovating research facilities, among other initiatives. The campaign reached its initial goal in May 2009, and ultimately raised $1.61 billion by its Dec. 31, 2010 end date.
