Yale field hockey freshman Erica Borgo ’14 finished her debut campaign the way she started, winning Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors in the final week of the season. It was her second time winning the award – the first came in the first week of the season, when the forward scored five points in her first collegiate weekend.
Borgo’s two goals in the Bulldogs’ final game against Brown not only earned her this week’s award, but also made her the Elis’ top scorer this season with eight goals and seven assists – the first Yale freshman to lead the team in scoring since Amanda Walton ’02 accomplished the feat in 1998.
Borgo becomes the second freshmen on the team that has won multiple Rookie of the Week awards this season. Classmate Georgia Holland ’14 earned three Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors, finishing fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and six assists as a defensive back.
