New Haven will likely not play host to a terrorism trial. State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal LAW ’73 told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he does not anticipate that the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, whom the 9/11 Commission Report called “the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks,” will be held in New Haven because of the level of disruption it would cause.

School of Architecture professor Peter Eisenman won the 2010 Wolf Prize in Architecture on Wednesday for his design of the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, which was erected in 2005. Eisenman shared the prize, totaling $100,000, with British architect David Chipperfield.

Yale Law School professor Heather Gerken testified Tuesday at a Senate committee hearing on corporate campaign spending. The hearing was examining the Supreme Court’s Jan. 21 decision to allow unlimited corporate spending on election campaigns.

Finding what makes mosquitoes tick. Yale researchers have found more than 20 mosquito scent receptors that detect human sweat, a discovery that may lead to new methods of repelling insects and preventing disease.

Ward 1 Alderman Mike Jones ’11 took to his blog Wednesday to voice his concern with a proposed city ordinance that would bar minors from clubs that serve alcohol. “I don’t think that barring college students from clubs does anything constructive to fix the situation,” he wrote.

THIS DAY IN YALE HISTORY

1916 A plan is completed, in conjunction with the Connecticut Aircraft Company, to create a new balloon company to be added to the preexisting Yale Artillery Battalion. The new aerial corps would make Yale’s battery the first in the nation to be so equipped.
