The Pepe’s-versus-Sally’s debate gained some big-city notoriety yesterday when the New York Post published an in-depth analysis on the rise and fall of New Haven pizza.
I turned to my friend George and made a pronouncement. New Haven pizza? Dead to me.
Anyone knows their pizza knows a little something about New Haven. They know that it’s not just Yale University, or a big Ikea store down on the waterfront.
Back in the day, pie aficionados and food writers from New York made many a sojourn up I-95; some critics even wagered, in public and at their peril, that the best pizza in New York was actually in New Haven.
