Yale chemistry professor Thomas Steitz, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry today, appeared at a press conference today at noon in the President’s Room of Woolsey Hall, where Steitz thanked the University, discussed his research project and described being woken at 5:30 a.m. by a call from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

When asked if he knows what he will do with his share of the $1.4 million, Steitz stated simply: “I have no idea.”
