After its best season in history, the men’s hockey team has been chosen to finish in first place by the ECAC coaches and media in their preseason polls.
Yale received 278 points in the writer’s poll and received 15 of 25 first place nominations from the media. Of the 12 ECAC coaches, Yale received seven votes for first place.
This is Yale’s first time being picked to top the league in the preseason poll. The Elis’ highest prediction previously was a fifth-place vote in 2003.
In addition, center Mark Arcobello ’10 received 18 votes to be named the ECACH Writers and Broadcasters Association preseason all-conference team. Linemate and right winger Sean Backman ’10 was named to the ECAC coaches’ all-conference team as a forward.
Cornell was picked to finish second in the coaches’ poll and Princeton was chosen to finish third.
