The Athletics Department announced this weekend that Ryan Donald ’10, a defensive mainstay on the men’s ice hockey team, has been elected captain of the squad for the 2009-’10 season. The Alberta native has played in 89 games over the last three years and skated in all but one of this season’s games.
“I am lucky to be a part of a class that brings a variety of leadership qualities to the team,” Donald said. “We hope to be able to take this team to even greater heights.”
Donald made the ECAC All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Elis to a shutout victory over Cornell to secure the ECAC Championship on March 21 in Albany, N.Y. The Yale defense ended the season ranked 10th in scoring defense, conceding just 2.24 goals per game, which helped propel the Bulldogs to their best season of hockey in school history.
Donald, a member of Ezra Stiles College, is one of six rising seniors on the Yale squad.
