New Haven officials sent State Department of Transportation’s recent proposals back to the Transportation Committee, the New Haven Register reported yesterday. The DOT proposed, in its meeting with the South Central Regional Council of Governments, a $3.35 million 511 travel-information system and $2.6 million to improve the highway camera system. But the mayors present at the meeting were not convinced, given the current state and local budget deficits and the fact that other projects, such as improved traffic signals for New Haven, have not received the approval of the DOT.
