The men’s lacrosse version of The Game this year is a complete reversal of the fall 2007 football matchup: Instead of pitting the two undefeated Ivy League rivals against each other, the men’s lacrosse team (4-8, 0-5 Ivy) welcomes rival Harvard (5-7, 0-4) to Reese Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. with both teams looking for their first Ivy League win of the season.

Though they have struggled in the Ancient Eight so far, both teams are coming off wins, with Yale having dominated Air Force, 10-2, last Sunday and Harvard having defeated Holy Cross, 12-6, on Saturday.

As if a matchup against their bitter rivals wasn’t enough, Saturday’s showdown coincides with the squad’s Senior Day: 10 members of the class of 2008 will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. According to captain and defenseman Pat Grimm ’08, a win on such a special day against Harvard would help end the season on a high note.

“I can’t imagine a better way to finish out this year,” he said.

In last year’s game against the Crimson, the Bulldogs withstood a fourth-quarter comeback from Harvard to escape from Cambridge with a 9-8 victory.
