Three graduate students were robbed at gunpoint on Elm Street between Dwight Street and University Place at 12:25 a.m. Thursday.
The assailant was described in a campuswide e-mail sent by Yale Police Department Chief James Perrotti late Thursday morning as being 5-feet 4-inches tall, 140 pounds and between 25 and 40 years old and wearing black clothing.
The e-mail did not include details about how much money was stolen from the students.
YPD spokesman Sgt. Steven Woznyk deferred comment to the New Haven Police Department. City Hall and NHPD spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga did not return requests for comment left on her phone Thursday.
The last robbery addressed by Perrotti in a campuswide e-mail took place on March 4 at 5:15 a.m. on York Street near Crown Street. The graduate student victim did not know whether this assailant was armed. Perrotti has sent seven security awareness e-mails to the Yale community thus far this semester.
