After last week’s victories over Fairfield and Harvard, the women’s soccer team clocked in at No. 20 on the National Soccer Coaches of America/adidas national rankings. This week marked their second appearance on the NSCAA poll. The Elis (9-2, 2-0 Ivy) have also been ranked for three straight weeks on the Soccer Buzz national poll, where they currently hold the No. 22 spot.
Yale head coach Rudy Meredith said the rankings are welcome indications of the team’s success this season, but that the Bulldogs will have to adjust to being a marked team.
“Obviously if you’re being ranked you’re having a good season,” Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. “You’re always hoping you’re having a good enough season to be ranked. The only problem is everyone coming in here knows they’re playing a nationally ranked team. We haven’t been in this situation much before, so we’ll have to learn how to deal with it.”
The Bulldogs will try to extend their program-record winning streak to ten games Saturday when they host Dartmouth at Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
