The week started off well enough for setter Jacqueline Becker ’06 when she was named Ivy League Player of the Week for her performance this weekend against Brown and Providence. But it got that much better yesterday when the ECAC followed suit and named Becker their Player of the Week.
Becker said she especially appreciates the awards because it is her last season as an Eli.
“It’s awesome,” she said. “To be recognized makes it feel like all the work I have put into it is worth it.”
The setter from Orange County, Calif. recorded 63 assists in the Bulldogs’ Ivy opener against the Bears and their victory over the Friars. These numbers gave Becker the title of Yale’s all-time leader in assists with 3,472. She also notched five kills, two service aces, and six digs Friday night.
Becker said winning the Ivy Championship last year made her work harder than ever to achieve these kinds of results.
“It’s important to me that I play my best ever,” she said. “Leading my team and playing well, it’s awesome to be recognized for that.”
