To the Editor:

It is with sorrow and empathy that I send this letter of condolence for the recent tragedy at Yale University. I’m also sending this letter on behalf of my colleagues in the Student Government Association at the University of Maryland, who also send their goodwill.

In recent years, we have dealt with our own painful losses, and understand how hard these times can be. However, it has been encouraging to read about the students at Yale who have joined hands and are mourning together. We have learned that group grieving helps the healing process, and are confident that the Yale students will recover. Our thoughts and wishes go to the Yale student body, and the families of each student.
