Students will soon find copies of The New York Times in residential college dining halls, Yale President Richard Levin said Wednesday.
The President’s discretionary fund will pay for the subscription costs, he said.
Yale College Council Treasurer Andrew Klaber ’04 said 60 newspapers will arrive daily in each dining hall within the next two weeks.
Levin said the Yale Daily News and the YCC facilitated a conversation with The New York Times following the six-week pilot program last semester. Klaber said the program demonstrated how enthusiastic students were about having The New York Times in the dining halls along with the Yale Daily News.
The Yale Daily News was involved in negotiations to share distributors with The New York Times, but because of logistical issues, The New York Times has hired a separate distributor, Yale Daily News publisher Kate Gulliver ’04 said.
