Yale College Council secretary candidate Lindsey Parker said that the YCC needs to make sure it accurately represents the student body.

“We need to make the system stronger,” she said. “Right now, representatives are supposed to liaison between the YCC and the groups they represent, but that system isn’t working very well.”

Parker said that YCC representatives should write periodical reports concerning their progress, so that students have more information about what is going on in the YCC.

“What I would want to include are weekly or monthly reports from each representative so that the student body can read about what the representatives are doing,” she said.

Parker said she also wanted to improve the YCC Web site, so that students could have an easy way of finding out what is going on.

“I want to publish a newsletter on the Web site, and add a calendar, a discussion board and a suggestion box,” she said. “I want to make the site more user-friendly.”

She said that she would also like to encourage campus diversity by revising freshmen orientation and ethnic counseling programs.

Parker was a Morse representative to the YCC last semester, and was also a YCC representative to the Ivy College Council conference in Dartmouth.
