Preppy clothing retailer J. Crew plans to open a store on Broadway by February, University Properties announced this week.
The popular clothier, which first gained a young clientele for its mail-order catalog, has signed a 10-year lease with Yale, which owns most of the property on Broadway. J. Crew will open a 6,240-square-foot store in the new two-story building whose current tenants are retailers Urban Outfitters and Alexia Crawford.
Urban Outfitters opened in the spring and Alexia Crawford, which sells women’s accessories, joined it this summer. University Properties has yet to lease 1,900 square feet of retail space in the new structure on Broadway.
