BOOLA BOOLA | Mangano ’12 declares for NBA Draft

Greg Mangano ’12, the men’s basketball team’s center who averaged 16.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in his junior season, has filed the paperwork necessary to declare for the 2011 NBA Draft. However, he has not hired an agent and has followed the restrictions necessary to retain his eligibility.

Mangano has until May 8 to withdraw his name from the draft and retain his eligibility.

During his junior season, Mangano won Ivy League Player of the Week four times and was named to the All-Ivy First Team. In addition, he set the school record for single-season blocked shots with 85. He helped lead the Bulldogs to a 15–13 overall record and third place in the Ivy League at 8–6.

“The most important thing to me right now remains the fact that I came to Yale to get a first class education and graduate from this university,” Mangano said in a press release. “The decision to declare for the draft is just something we decided would be beneficial for my future. Playing in the NBA has always been a dream of mine, and this may help my cause.”

The NBA Draft will be held June 23, 2011 in Newark, N.J.
