Tuesday’s Buzz: 4.12.11

THE NEWS

  • Despite big changes at the Yale School of Management, including the creation of a new campus on Sachem Street, applications to the school held steady this year.
  • Tensions between Ecuador and the U.S. are heightening. It all began with WikiLeaks — last week, a Spanish newspaper published a secret WikiLeaks cable that revealed the American ambassador to the South American nation, Heather Hodges, making disparaging remarks of the government. Sparks flew, and within days both the nations’ ambassadors had been declared “persona non grata” in the nation they once called home, and were ordered to leave. But in the South American nation’s outpost in New Haven, it’s business as usual.
  • The newly minted New Haven Police Department Cold Case Homicide Unit announced its first solved crime on Friday. New Haven Police Chief Frank Limon announced Friday that charges will be brought for the Jun. 1, 2000 murders of Lamont Brockenberry and Lakeia Vaughn. The conclusion of this 11 year-old double homicide is the result of the newly formed NHPD/FBI Cold Case Unit. The unit, created in October by Limon is part of the Chief’s initiative to decrease gang violence in New Haven by solving more criminal investigations, he has said on numerous occasions.

It seems that Yale would rather focus on vulgar “bestiality” rather than applaud the first man in orbit – who happened to have different stripes – The tripe Yale Daily sells – let it be known that a fish monger would not come within yards of a school that professes willful misconduct and a contempt of accomplishments Editor please feel free to correct my soling and grammar since I have a high C in my ear and I am trying to tell you to accentuate the positive.
