BOOLA BOOLA | 3 Elis among semifinalists for hockey award

The American team that men’s hockey coach Keith Allain ’80 coached at the World Juniors Championships over winter break didn’t include any Elis. Now his American players at Yale are getting some love.

The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Monday named three Yale skaters semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award, which is given annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.

The selection of senior forwards Chris Cahill ’11, Denny Kearney ’11, and Broc Little ’11 meant that No. 3 Yale and No. 1 Boston College each have three semifinalists, more than any other school.

Little, Cahill, and Kearney rank third through fifth among Yale point-scorers. Yale’s top eight marksmen are all Americans.

The Gridiron Club will announce the finalists and winner of the award in March, before the NCAA tournament.
