Alum nominated for award

Former Yale left-hander Craig Breslow ’02, now a reliever with the Oakland Athletics, has been nominated for Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Award for humanitarian and community service. Each of the league’s 30 teams has a nominee.

Former quaker had disease

A brain autopsy revealed that Owen Thomas, a Penn football player who committed suicide in April, had the same trauma-induced disease found in more than 20 deceased NFL players. Thomas did not have a history of depression when he was found dead.
