THE NEWS

  • Though the possibility Shaw’s Supermarket on Whalley Avenue closing by the end of March has been met with dismay by many community members and employees alike, the news has become a motivation for developers of the 360 State Street complex to ensure they house a large-scale grocery store in their building.

  • The Yale School of Medicine has received its highest-ever number of applicants, and Dean Robert Alpern says that rise is a product of the recession. “Usually if the economy is bad, applications to medical schools go up because people see the medical field as a safe profession,” Alpern said.
  • A critique-based teaching program that focuses on regular evaluations of students’ work has made Yale’s MFA photography program distinctive in the country.
