A new online feature has amassed data on alcohol and drug culture to identify national trends.

The data comes from the Campus Safety and Security Statistics database from the Education Department’s Office of Postsecondary Education. The article begins with graphics showing the top 50 American schools with the most on-campus drug arrests, with SUNY Oneonta coming out on top. But there are many factors other than campus drug culture that play into these numbers, including location-based cultures and drinking statistics, which are often listed separate from drug statistics, according to the piece.

The piece also includes a chart of Ivy League drug and alcohol arrests per 1,000 students, which lists Yale University in second place for in both drug and alcohol incidents — 1.09 and 2.27, respectively. Dartmouth College leads the League, with 1.30 drug arrests and a much-higher 12.53 alcohol arrests.

“This result matches a known problem Dartmouth has with drinking on its campus, attributed mostly to the fact that fraternities dominate the social scene there,” the article states. “About two-thirds of undergraduates at Dartmouth join a fraternity or sorority, which is nearly double the rate of any other Ivy League school. And Greeks are known to be more likely to abuse alcohol.”

The piece culminates with a ranking of the top 20 colleges and universities for drug and alcohol arrests per 1,000 students, with the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh at the top.
