Inca artifacts set to return to Peru this month will travel home aboard the nation’s presidential plane, the Peruvian news agency Andina reported this afternoon.

The artifacts have been held at Yale for nearly 100 years but will return to Peru over the next two years, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University and Peru last November. The first 363 museum-quality pieces to be returned will travel later this month, to be displayed in the Government Palace in Lima, Andina reported.

According to the November agreement, Yale will be responsible for all costs related to the artifacts’ return.
