- Reporter Melissa Cail looks into the Center for Studies in Music Technology affectionately refereed to as “kismet” by those who frequent its violet-walled rooms in the basement of Sprague Hall. Associate Dean of the School of Music Michael Yaffe, who oversees the Center, said that its equipment and classes are invaluable resources to any musician working in the 21st century and in particular to the composers from the School of Music who have found a home there.
- The men’s basketball season has had a roller coaster ride this season, but there has been one constant: the dominating inside play of center Greg Mangano ’12. Mangano, who has recorded seven double-doubles this season, has emerged as a serious contender for Ivy League Player of the Year. The junior big man is averaging 14.8 points per game, 10.3 rebounds per game and 2.7 blocks per game and has helped his team win its first two Ivy League games and reach a 9–7 overall record.
- With less than six months left in Yale’s five-year campaign to raise $3.5 billion, University President Richard Levin is looking far beyond New Haven for additional funds. As he has done for over a decade, Levin traveled last night to Davos, Switzerland to attend the 41st annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, a high-profile conference on global affairs for political, business and academic leaders. Levin said he aims to promote the University and network with friends and alumni at the forum and during a brief visit to Paris, France this weekend. While in Europe, Levin also plans to meet with potential donors to the Yale Tomorrow campaign, he said, which ends this summer.
