David Huebner LAW ’86 became the third openly gay ambassador in American history Nov. 20 when the U.S. Senate confirmed him as the new U.S. ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa. Huebner, a California attorney, is the first ambassador chosen by President Barack Obama’s administration. He is currently based in Shanghai, where he specializes in international arbitration, mediation and cross-border litigation for a Los Angeles law firm.
