The Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, N.Y., named School of Art Dean Robert Storr for the Himmel Award, in recognition of his pioneering achievements in the arts. Storr delivered a lecture titled “Art’s Self-Sufficiencey in a Boom/Bust Art World” at the award ceremony, addressing the effects of the ailing economy on artists and the market.

“I think lots of people in the art world have been caught up in the distraction of the marketplace,” Storr said in an interview with The New York Times. “Not that the market is intrinsically bad, but I’d rather talk about what Jeff Koons does than how many millions he makes.”

The Himmel Award was established this year in honor of Betty Himmel, former vice president and president of the museum’s board of trustees.

An earlier version of this article misidentified Robert Storr, who is the Dean of the Yale School of Art, not the Yale School of Arts. The Katonah Museum of Art is in Katonah, NY., not in Chappaqua.
