Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell is taking new steps to close the state’s expanding budget gap. She announced Monday that all state contracts are to be reviewed by a “SWAT” team of staff from the Department of Administrative Services Procurement Division and the Office of Policy and Management to determine where the state can save money. Additionally, Rell announced she would review executive appointments to find ways to cut the state’s workforce. “We must keep pace with the continuing erosion of our revenues,” said Rell. “Before we cut programs, we must cut bureaucracy.”
